Smokin' Karaoke was created in Conshohocken, Pa during the spring of 2001.
After returning to State College that September, it wasn't long before Smokin' Karaoke took on Monday nights at The Saloon.
The show started with a CDG player and a karaoke disk selection consisting of roughly 2000 songs.
After a few months of building the Monday crowd, I raised the total to 5000 songs.
In December of 2004, the show stepped up to the next level of technology, switching over to MP3+G format and using a laptop to run the necessary software to play the karaoke files.
At that point the collection was swiftly bumped up to over 15,000 tunes, where it stayed until March of 2007.
Smokin' Karaoke is currently using a 400 gig hard drive with close to 50,000 different titles to choose from.
This collection is one of the largest in the State College area and I strive to keep my selection current by updating monthly.
